QiVeev, a new group buying site to focus on Green and Conscious daily deals, strong relationships with merchants, and transparency

For Immediate Release

Chicago, Illinois (August 17, 2011)

It seems like daily deal sites are popping up everywhere you turn, with no end in sight. Knowing where to shop for the best daily deals is becoming increasingly difficult, particularly for responsible consumers who love the savings offered by group buying sites, but who want to support local green, sustainable, organic, fair- trade, and otherwise good-for-people-and-the-Earth businesses.

Fortunately for Chicagoans, a conscious daily deals site, QiVeev (pronounced “key veev”), is working hard to make that decision easier. QiVeev is a take on the French term, qui vive, meaning to be on the lookout. And QiVeev is indeed ‘on the QiVeev’ for the best deals from local merchants in and around Chicagoland, as part of their commitment to proving that conscious living does not have to be expensive. Merchants and consumers alike will find a number of advantages at QiVeev, which set it apart from other social buying sites:

Conscious Deals

All deals found at www.qiveev.com are offered by local socially responsible and eco-friendly businesses. QiVeev develops strong relationships with merchants to serve the local responsible community. Merchants committed to fair business practices come to QiVeev to offer conscious consumers daily deals on their products and services at amazing savings of up to 90% off! These savings help bring greener products down to earth, making a conscious lifestyle more accessible to a greater number of people.

Accelerated Deals

With the accelerated deal option, the more everyone buys, the more everyone saves! Consumers band together to get merchants to offer deeper discounts to all people who’ve purchased a deal once a specified number of vouchers have been sold. Thanks to the accelerated deals option, consumers can help each other save more than they originally expected!

Merchant Benefits: Positive Experiences & Favorable Pricing

QiVeev realizes that merchant experiences play a pivotal role in customer satisfaction. Many small, locally owned and operated business have had negative experiences offering discount vouchers on other group buying sites. Some have found themselves priced out of the social buying arena entirely. The norm in the world of social buying sites is that merchants only retain 50% of the revenue generated off the sales of their discount vouchers, which leaves little incentive for responsible small businesses to utilize group buying sites.

Merchants at QiVeev are treated differently. As part of QiVeev’s commitment to supporting and forging strong relationships with local businesses, QiVeev merchants retain a larger percentage of the revenue generated by the sales of their discount vouchers, translating into a greater incentive for more merchants to offer a wide array of products and services on QiVeev, at even bigger savings. Fairness at QiVeev means consumers and merchants are equally valued, and deals are beneficial for both parties.

Video-Based Deal Features

By enabling merchants to communicate directly to subscribers, Qiveev’s merchant video option builds trust and community. Merchants have the option of working with a professional film crew for the production of a short video about their business, for view by subscribers at www.qiveev.com. These videos will be available for view in conjunction with daily deals, helping subscribers to learn more about what makes a featured business conscious and unique.

Transparency

QiVeev is committed to operating transparently. To that end, the site has created a page called QiViewsTM, where both consumers and merchants can write about their experience with QiVeev. Registered subscribers can post their honest feedback about QiVeev for the world to see. This high degree of transparency holds QiVeev accountable to the public, and encourages responsibility on their part. QiViewsTM will only be moderated to ensure family appropriate content. “It is essential that our customers and merchants know that they have a voice and that they can trust us. We take QiViews very seriously, and will use them to optimize the QiVeev experience for the benefit of everyone we serve,”said Founder and Mr. Executive, Malcolm Newsome.

Qiveev seeks to combine the savings offered at social buying sites with the commitment to fair business practices and conscious living found at the heart of local responsible business. Supporting QiVeev merchants enables consumers to save significantly on organic, fair- trade, green, and otherwise socially and environmentally responsible products and services. Thanks to QiVieev’s efforts at making greener living more accessible, there could very well be a bright future full of growth for Chicago’s conscious community. QiVeev plans to begin featuring deals August 26th, 2011.

Four students from Waukegan Community Unit School District’s Alternative Optional Education Center (AOEC) made up the inaugural graduating class of the Rising Entrepreneurs Program.

The intensive16-week program wrapped up on May 4, with students attending a formal graduation and celebration at the AOEC. The festivities followed an intensive job-experience program, where students simultaneously attended their regular classes, while interning at the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office, Waukegan Township offices and the College of Lake County.

Graduates included: seniors Rosa Gomez, Tawanna White and Lizette Nava and junior Joel Alvarez. The REP program is part of District 60’s 21st Century STARS Program(Successfully Targeting and Reaching Students), a grant-funded after- and before-school program that provides enrichment activities, life skills and academic assistance to students.

“The goal of the Rising Entrepreneurs Program was to get students job experience in fields different from what they would gravitate toward,” said REP Coordinator Mr. Malcolm Newsome. “These jobs gave students a perspective of the work world they wouldn’t have been able to experience while working traditional teenager jobs in retail or food service.”

In addition to their internships, students also attended weekly job readiness training with Mr. Newsome, Ms. Shanta Parnell and Ms. Shawna Huley, where they concentrated on life skills and the importance of mapping out a future. Job readiness lessons focused on topics such as interviewing skills, resume building, conflict resolution, personal finance and time management skills, all of which came in handy during their internships.

“All of the employers were very impressed with the students. They commented that the students were very punctual and reliable and they were hard working,” Mr. Newsome said.

The rigors of the REP program have proven to be beneficial to the students involved. All three seniors have chosen to attain post-secondary education upon their official graduation from Waukegan High School this spring.
